It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.
The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

The examination will take place from February 18, 2018 which will conclude on March 19 across the state. The state secondary education board will only admit black ink this time.
HOJAI: Two IAS aspirants from Assam in New Delhi have received a huge encouragement when the Ajmal Foundation announced the duo as the beneficiaries of a scheme meant to help the civil service aspirants. Shoma Roy, a local resident of Lanka would get a financial assistance from the organization to pursue coaching for the civil service examination. GUWAHATI: A forest official engaged in the massive eviction drive in the Amchang wildlife sanctuary sustained serious injury when an evicted person attacked him with a sharp weapon on Tuesday. The clash took place in the morning when the huge joint team of forest department and district administration resumed the drive to evict the illegal settlers. As they started demolishing a house the owner had an altercation with the forest official who was busy with his assigned task defying the resistance. Suddenly, the owner of the house attacked the official with a sharp weapon. He was rushed to the hospital and the owner was arrested.

NAMRUP: A leopard cub was found dead in Namrup which was believed to have been killed during a fight between two tiger on Monday. Tea garden workers spotted the lifeless cub under the tea bushes in Hapjan Estate in the morning. The body which was rushed for post mortem bore injury marks in neck and head. Later in a statement Namrup deputy ranger Pranab Kalita also doubted a fierce fighting of leopards where the cub died in attack. Leopards often keep coming down from the Joyepore reserve forest to the human habitats and tea gardens in search of food.

GUWAHATI: There seems to be no respite for Nishamoni Deka as the Gauhati High Court on Monday refused to grant anticipatory bail for the ACS officer who is on the run. Hearing the anticipatory bail plea, the high court straightly rejected it and asked the special operation unit probing the APSC scam to submit the case diary by December 15. Earlier, Deka moved a plea before the Special court to grant her anticipatory bail citing her two month old baby. When rejected, she moved the high court which upheld the ruling. GUWAHATI: Even an escalating protest across the state can't halt the massive eviction drive if Pramila Rami Brahma is to be believed.
