The importance of green technologies drew no less attention when experts at a seminar in Guwahati outlined its salient features on Thursday.
Organized jointly by FINER and IIE, the seminar stressed environment to ensure sustainable development of the north eastern region.
Former Union forest minister Jayram Ramesh said that hydro power was required to boost power generation. But in the same breath, he opposed it at the cost of environment, livelihood of the common people.
“The Country is confident that all these steps taken will generate more employment and lead to growth of the region,” he said.
In his address, FINER chairman RS Joshi said the green and organic has become a global phenomenon with rising concerns on health, environment and social considerations.
In his address, IIE director Manoj Kumar Das observed that the country was still waiting to adopt the green technologies which will pave the way for sustainable development of the region.
CSIR-CRRI director Dr S Gangopadhyay along with New Leaf Dynamic Technologies director Suresh Raina, Prodyut Bora and Dr. Chandan Mahanta participated in the seminar.
