Bishuwa celebration

A coulurful bamboo dance demonstration was presented on the occasion of Bishuwa Utsav celebration (Bihu or Bwisagu) today being held at Rashmela ground in Kokrajhar.

The utsav was organised by Bishuwa celebration committee with two day colourful progarmme scheduled to mark the Bishuwa or Bihu, along with rest of the state.

The progarmme was began with flag hoist of Bishuwa by Lakhindra Ray,president of the celebration committee while Khanindra ray paid floral tributeto martyrs who had sacrificed for cultural values of the Koch Rajbongsi community.

A bamboo dance troupe from neighbouring West Bengal state which is a part of Koch Rajbongsi cultural tradition.The demonstration had attracted minds of cultural lover peoples who were thronged the celebration.

A photo exhibition of Koch Rajbongsi community was also exhibited on the occasion displaying traditional food item,weaving,cultural and historical values of the Koch Rajbongsi dynasty since Koch Kingdom in this world.

Lakhindra Ray,president of the Bishuwa Utsav celebration committee said that the Koch Rajbongsi community celebrated the last day of Choitra and first day of Bwisak or Bohag as Bishuwa utsav as community has been observing the day as Bishuwa since forefathers.It is a belief of festivity mood on the days among society and expects good living throughout whole year.
