PC Ram Case: UP begins Ram’s DNA probe

Delhi: Caught in the controversy, the Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday collected the blood sample of PC Ram’s brother for DNA matching even as the family members of the kidnapped FCI official in the North East pin hope on his hassle-free release.

According to information, Dr Ram’s family members are in touch with the FCI chairman who has assured them that he would arrange a meeting with Union Home Minister, Union Home Secretary and
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

On the other hand, the Union Home Ministry has asked for a detailed report of the kidnapping and reported killing of Dr Ram after his son Prabin’s latest claim that he had received a call from his father saying he was alive.

Our Guwahati Bureau: In yet another major development, the Assam Government on Sunday ordered a fresh probe into the case following the ULFA’s claim that Dr Ram is alive.

Official sources on Monday confirmed that a fresh probe has been ordered to ascertain the details of a case which is has become unique due to the various contradictions that have creeped in. The sources have also indicated that the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who is arriving in the capital in a day or two will personally monitor the investigation.

ULFA in the meantime has claimed that the FCI top brass is very much alive and is still in their custody and has demanded the release of their member Mrinal Hazarika from jail

It is the old orthodox dirty tricks of anti-national elements to let down established govt.One P.C.Ram may die but release of one anti-national element will lead to boosting of moral of the entire outfit, and this will result in death of many other Rams in coming days. Govt. of Assam should give a serious thougt on this.

What if the Govt let the 2 anti-nationals go away (with some kind of remote sensing miniature device embedded on their body!!) against the release of Ram? or India's mighty police force is not able to control anti-nationals anymore?

At least ten persons have been injured when a local train collided with a railway engine in Dibrugarh district on Wednesday. The incident took place at M E S Tiniali area near Chabua town of the district at around 7 in the evening. Amid the hail of protest against rape in Delhi and molestation in Manipur, a 22-year-old girl in Sivasagar alleged inaction by the police in a case of molestation filed by her against six persons. The girl, who is pursuing a university law student, was allegedly molested by the six outside her home in daylight at Joysagar on August 8. According to her, the six had disrobed her and beat her with sticks when she resisted them.The girl later filed a complaint at Joysagar police station and one of the accused was arrested a few days later and sent to jail but the other five are still free. Meanwhile, chargesheet had been filed on the case and the five accused are on the run.
In yet another landmark judgment, a lower court in Nalbari has jailed a former Assam Assembly Speaker along with two others in a nefarious teacher recruitment scam that rocked the district in 1998. Former Assam speaker Pulakesh Baruah was sentenced to two terms of rigorous imprisonment of two years each by a local court on Monday in a case of illegal appointment of teachers in Nalbari district 16 years ago.The order was passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate of Nalbari, Dibyajyoti Mahanta who also fined Baruah Rs 20,000 in the case. ASEAN—India Car Rally has reached Guwahati on Sunday receiving cheers from thousands of people since it entered the state.
