We are all Assamese: BTC Speaker Tridip Daimari
“People,irrespective of caste,community or religion,who have been living in BTC and Assam for long years are the real Assamese”.So said Tridip Daimari,Speaker of BTC Assembly at a public meeting held at Kalaigaon on May 22.The meeting was organized to felicitate Trdip Daimari and Jagadish Sarkar both newly elected Speaker and EM of BTC government respectively.The Speaker stressed the need for creating awareness among people in the matter of cleanliness,health and hygine specially to help people suffering from dreaded deseases like cancer etc.
The meeting was also addressed by Jagadish Sarkar, EM of BTC. Both the guests were felicitated with japi and gamocha on their arrival.Dr.CP Payeng also spoke on the occasion.Social worker Kami Ram Saharia presided over the meeting while Dandi Kumar Boro and Kamal Prasad Sarma anchored the proceeding of the felicitation ceremony.

In another tragic incident an adult male wild elephant has been eletrocuted neat Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary in the night of July 8. According to information the elephant died on spot after it had come in to contact of loosely erected high voltage electric wires. Surprisingly most of all electric lines have been hanging from temporary bamboo poles causing threat to wild elephants as well as people. ASEB is totally inactive in tea garden and forest areas there by allowing tea garden management and common people to take own illegal connection at will. So far five people and two wild elephants lost lives in Udalguri district in June-July period.
Army Wives Welfare Association represented by Regional President AWWA, Gajraj Corps, Smt Sandhya Krishnan today met and offered deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Sepoy (Late) Prabin Das of village Gogapara,Bhergaon in the district of Udalguri, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting hard core terrorists in Srinagar, J& K on June 24.Sepoy (Late) Prabin Das is survived by his mother Sewali Das and two brothers. Smt Sandhya Krishnan presented financial assistance to the mother of the martyr on behalf of Indian Army and promised all possible help to the bereaved family. Indian Army has a legacy of honouring its martyrs and taking care of their bereaved families.

Prabin Das,Sepoy No.4375845Y of 16 Assam regiment who had been one among eight army jawans killed by militants in Srinagar on June 24 was cremated here at Ghogapara village near Sub-divisional HQ Bhergaon on June 27 with full state honour.
