Gamlin joins as Delhi chief secy

Despite stiff resistance from Arvind Kejriwal and his lobby senior IAS officer from Assam Shakuntala Gamlin took over as Delhi chief secretery. 

Shakuntala, the daughter of former minister Lalit Doley and wife of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Jarbom Gamlin has alleged intimidation by a section of bureacrates not to take over. 

He was Lt Governor Jung who appointed her in the top post defying the chief minister's opposition who calls her corrupt.

A dreaded KPLT militant was killed at an encounter with police in Karbi Anglong district on Saturday. The encounter took place during an operation in Bokajan where the militant identified as Tom died on the spot. Five other militants fled from the encounter spot. Later police recovered an AK-56 rifle along with a magazine, 72 rounds of bullets.
Two Achik National Volunteer Council militants were killed by locals residents along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Friday.According to police, a group of 7 militants had come to Darangthop under Agia police station for extortion to be attacked by an irate mob. Police claimed to have seized a pistol with one of the ultras of the proscribed outfit and raised an alarm.
