Assam joins Childrens day

Assam observed childrens day along with other parts of the country to mark the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi participated at the centrally sponsored function at the Sankardev Kalakhetra in the morning. He promptly responded the questions posed by the participating children. Apart from this the day was observed with a daylong programme of songs and dances along with drawing competition acrosr the state.

Allegation against headmaster

Hojai:  Sensation prevailed in Jamunamukh under Hojai district when a case of Sexual Assault came in light on Saturday.

A Class 5  minor from Borzar Primary School in Jamunamukh under Hojai District  was allegedly sexually molested by headmaster of the school  Maheshwar Medhi, where she was studying.

According to the sources, after the girl informed about the whole incident to her parents.Victim's parents along with some locals gathered at the Borzar Primary School  on Saturday, caught the accused Headmaster and thrashed him.

Immediately Jamunamukh  police reached the school and controlled the whole incident and apprehended the accused headmaster from the clutches of irate mob.

On the other hand, accused headmaster has denied of the allegations on him, stating them as completely false.

Meanwhile police is investigating the case and ordered to sent the girl for medical examination.

AASAA bandh cripples Tangla

The normal life was ground to halt at the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district due to the 12 hour bandh called by All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA) in protest against the killing of 11 persons at Pengeri in Tinsukia . All Private educational institutes, major markets and business centers were closed while private vehicles were seen plying across the road. No  untoward incident was reported in the district till the filling of this report in the evening.


Assam govt, SBI pact for home loans

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Wednesday strikes a significant deal with the State Bank of India to grant home loans for its employees.

Speaking to Assam Times, official sources here say the agreement was signed at a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s office by finance secretary Santanu Mukherjee and SBI manager for the north eastern region Atanu Sen in full view of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

According to the pact, the SBI will grant loans to the Assam government employees for building new houses, buying flats, and renovation of old houses at a minimum rate.
