Bad days are not far away for Assam financial health if what Tarun Gogoi apprehends before Centre.
In a letter to Arun Jaitley, Gogoi said that without Centre’s help the state can not escape the impending crisis.
Gogoi in his letter sent to the Union finance minister urged the Centre to settle the fund flow issue to the State. “The state has been facing a major challenge during 2014-15 and 2015-16 over planning and flow of funds,” Gogoi has written to Jaitley.
According to him, Assam is in the need of more public investment and increased financial support from the Centre to sustain and speed up growth.
He said the funds released to the State are showing a declining trend. The budget has provision for Rs 21,000 crore for plan expenditure during 2014-15 based on the general trend of annual plan allocations made by the Planning Commission in the previous years.
