The College of Aeronautical Engineering, the only aircraft maintenance engineering institute of northeast India has organized an aviation awareness programme for scribes at Guwahati Press Club on 21 April 2015. The day long programme will begin with the felicitation to some renowned aviation personalities from Assam including Air Marshal (Retd) P K Barbora, Kanu Gohain, Anjan Gogoi and Air Commodore (Retd) D J Sharma.
The media aviation awareness programme will cover the history of aviation, government regulatory departments and authorities, aircraft, operators, engineering department, ground handling, aircraft accidents, incidents & their investigations, role of human factors, meteorological department, air traffic control in safety and development of aviation especially in northeast India.
It may be mentioned that the College of Aeronautical Engineering, which is approved under DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation (GoI), was established in 2009. Interested students of the alienated region have been benefited as they are getting international civil aviation organization type-II training in this institution with 100% placement records. This institution is also performing various aviation related social activities for the development of the aviation industry in the region.
The interested scribes are requested to join in the program that will begin at 11 am and conclude by 3 pm.

Normal train services remained heavily disrupted in Goalpara and Kamrup districts on Tuesday when ARSU activists blocked the roads in protest against holding of panchayat elections in Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council areas. ULFA has owned up the responsibility of the strike in oil pipeline at Makum on Tuesday. In a statement, the outfit claimed to have used PMTD technology to blow up the oil pipeline which took place on Tuesday morning. Security forces claimed to have killed a hardcore ULFA militant following a heavy exchange of firing in Goalpara district on Tuesday.The encounter took place in early in the morning at Khardang near Dudhnoi bordering Meghalaya where the ULFA militant was killed to be later identified as Niyar Asom. The first phase will decide the fate of altogether 28,680 candidates in eight districts.
Of them, 643 candidates will contest for the post of Zilla Parishad member, 2,801 for Anchalik Panchayat member, 3,099 candidates for Gaon Panchayat president's post and 22,137 candidates filed their nominations for Gaon Panchayat membership.
First phase will include Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Golaghat, Kaliabor, Nagaon Sadar, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts. The counting of votes would take place on February 14 and February 15.
Aaranyak’s wildlife biologist, Purnima Devi Barman who has been working continuously on conservation of Greater Adjutant Stork species has completed an international field training in a remote forest area on Cambodia on nesting monitoring and biology of Greater Adjutant Stork.
