Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.
She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."
Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Knowing her as I do, I am sure, she will be able to achieve for us what others have failed to achieve in the past. We expect much from her.

The explosion of seven digital meters at a city apartment created panic among its residents in the city’s Beltola area on Saturday. A Dhubri ULFA cadre was killed in Golukganj area while police and Amy jawans were launching a joint operation nea the Rupsi Aiport early in the morning on Friday. According to information, the incident took place at around 3 early in the morning. The youth maer identified as Manindra Ray was coming on a bicycle near the Rupsi Airport under Golukganji police station. The police asked him to stop while he was tying the leave the spot. Manindra instead dropped a grenade at them and started firing. When the police and army jawans retaliated Manindra died on the spot. The Gauhati High Court has ordered suspension three top ranked police officers for probing into the teacher recruitment scam with out arresting two kingpins involved in it.According to information, a division bench comprising Chief Justice S Salameswar and Justice Amitabh Roy in the order asked the authorities to suspend the then Nalbari police policed superintendent Dilip Kumar Dey, officer in charge of Nalbari police station K C Phukan and assistant sub inspector Sujit Saikia.
