Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.
She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."
Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Knowing her as I do, I am sure, she will be able to achieve for us what others have failed to achieve in the past. We expect much from her.

In yet another case of mushroom consumption, four people died on Thursday morning in upper Assam’s Dergaon area. According to information, the incident took place at Badulipara area when four members of the same family consumed mushroom. Details are awaited. Assam's problems: Governor to talk to Centre Assam Governor Lt general (Retd) Ajoy Kumar Singh on Wednesday said he would soon take the Assam's problems to the Centre for an amicable solution. He invited the All Assam Students Union leaders for talks to the Rajbhawan and discussed the formation of a task force for protection of the state's wild life. Some other burning issues were also figured in the discussion.
