Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.
She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."
Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Knowing her as I do, I am sure, she will be able to achieve for us what others have failed to achieve in the past. We expect much from her.

Three ULFA cadres have been killed in an encounter with army in Tihu in Nalbari district on Friday night. According to information, the incident took place at Khetrapara Ghairajan under Tinhu police station when army’s Kumaon regiment with the help of police launched an operation in the area resulting in the heavy exchange of firing. Three ULFA cadres died on the spot and they have yet to be identified.Later police found a carbine, six rounds of bullets, one 9 mm pistol with five rounds of cartidge, a grenade, six detonators and some gunpowder from the spot. A suspected ULFA rebel died at a joint operation by police and Army in upper Assam's Sivasagar district on Tuesday morning. According to information, acting on a specific information, Army's 318 Field Regiment jawans and Charaideo police launched the operation at Rangalibatuwa area under Kakotibari police station in the district at around 3 in the morning.
