Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.
She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."
Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Knowing her as I do, I am sure, she will be able to achieve for us what others have failed to achieve in the past. We expect much from her.

Assam governor JB Patnaik had to cut short his speech due to protest by the opposition in the opening day of Assam Assembky budget sessionon Tuesday. In yet another significant development Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had a close door meet with union home minister P Chidambaram in Delhi on Thursday. Both are believed to have discussed the modalities for talks with ULFA. Later talking to media, Gogoi said that they want all top ULFA leaders to be involved in the process. Assam DGP Sankar Barua also was present in the meeting. The meeting assumes significance after a local TADA court granted bail to Pradeep Gogoi and Mithinga Daimary.

The roads leading to Namrup from Sonari to Namrup as well as Nahakatia to Namrup are in very bad condition. It is hard to imagine such pathetic roads in this twentieth century. Specially in an industrial area like Namrup which houses three very important industries i.e. Bhrahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited, Namrup Thermal Power Plant and Assam Petrochemical limited. The suffering encountered by every people coming to Namrup because of the road, compel them to think twice before coming. The people of Namrup deserves demands better road communication. The concerned authorities and local MLA must take strong initiative for a better Namrup.

Two ULFA top leaders have yet to be released even a day after procured bail in TADA cases. Jail authorities have cited security reasons for the delay. The outfit's publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary is expected to be released on Thursday. ULFA vice president Pradip Gogoi has also yet to be released citing a delayed official procedure. According to source, Gogoi will have to ensure 12 personal bonds before the court before his release from Guwahati central jail where he has been languishing since 1998. Mithinga was logged in jail since 2004 after he was captured in Bhutan in operation all clear.
