BJP not averse to poll pact with AGP: Chakravarty

Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.

She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."

Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

The Asian Heart Institute has discharged Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi nearly a month after two critical open heart surgeries.Doctors at this Mumbai based hospital called his health fit and fine after a special chech up. According to sources, the chief minister was discharged at 7 in the evening on Friday. Immediately after it, he shifted to Hotel Trident where he would spend 2 days before leaving for Delhi.Gogoi is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is all set to be discharged from Asian Heart Institute on Friday where he has undergone two critical heart surgeries a couple of weeks back. Doctors at the Asian Heart Institute find his condition fit and fine. According to family sources, the chief minister is scheduled to leave for Delhi immediately after his discharge.On September 8, Gogoi will be arriving in Guwahati.

At least 150 passengers were rescued after the ferry carrying them developed a technical snag in the strong current in Lakhimpur district on Monday. According to report, as the Inland Water Transport department-owned S V Bebejia, carrying more than 150 passengers, developed a technical snag about 32 kms from Lakhimpur its engine stopped functioning in the river Subansiri. Another ferry was pressed into service and the passengers were rescued.

The flood fury in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary remains critical with almost 95 per cent of the sanctuary under flood waters. The water of the Brahmaputra, Kopili and Kolong had inundated vast tracts of the sanctuary leaving the animals in peril.
