Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.
She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."
Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Knowing her as I do, I am sure, she will be able to achieve for us what others have failed to achieve in the past. We expect much from her.

After one and a half months of absence, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is back in Guwahati. Gogoi arrived in the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Friday afternoon where he was greeted by a huge crowd. According to information, he is scheduled to resume work in a day or two. National Federation of Newspaper Employees (India) has expressed shock and dismay at the brutal killing of a freelance journalist based in Hojai, Assam on September 4 (Saturday). Bimala Prasad Talukder, 70, was killed by miscreants at Rampur under Hojai police station in Nagaon district and his wounded body was found by 9 pm, reported the Guwahati based satellite news channels.
