Hours after Assam Times raised doubts over veracity of the rape accusation against Syed Farid Khan in Dimapur Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi unofficially admitted that no rape incident took place.

Gogoi told reporters in Guwahati on Saturday that the security forces guarding the Dimapur Central Jail failed to deal with the situation where the mob managed to stormed into it and dragged Khan out to be lynched on the street.

He said that he is taking the case with his Nagaland counterpart TR Zeliang to ensure justice to the victim.

Notably, Assam Times broke the story that the medical report is remaining inconclusive to substantiate the rape allegation. The report further found fault with the allegation regarding the age of the rape victim. The alleged victim is 25 years old and not a minor as it was alleged initially.
