The people of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji have every reasons to celebrate the Bhogali Bihu. Courtesy Northeast Frontier Railway. For the first time a passenger train left for Lakhimpur on Wednesday. The train left Rongapara at 5-30 in the morning carrying over 500 passengers.
“It’s a huge respite. Now we have got a train to travel Lakhimpur. It was too late. But late is better than nothing,” said Chinmoy Bora who is one of the passengers to have left for his home district.
Another passenger Janmoni Dutta who got into the Lakhimpur bound train told Assam Times that the people in the north bank now need not spend money to travel to Tezpur and Guwahati. “Also it would help us manage time to travel from Lakhimpur to Rongapara,” she said.
The train will left Rongapara at 5-30 early in the morning regularly. Then it would be back from Lakhimpur in the afternoon.
