IIIT Guwahati Celebrates Rongali Bihu with Fourth Edition of BOHAGI

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) hosted the fourth edition of its annual Rongali Bihu festival, BOHAGI, on April 7th, 2024. Held at the institute's campus near Tech City, Bongora, the event aimed to promote Assamese culture among students, faculty, staff, and their families from across India.

BOHAGI 2024 featured cultural competitions organized by the IIITG Cultural Board, attracting students from various Assamese colleges. This fostered cultural interaction within the academic community and resonated with the "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" initiative, promoting national unity.

The celebration focused on enriching knowledge about Assamese folk culture, trends, and traditions, with a special emphasis on North Eastern art and heritage. Traditional elements like Dhul (drum beating), Pepa (blowing of traditional horns), Gogona (mask performances), and Bihu dances (Bahi) filled the event with the spirit of Bihu, inspiring students to embrace regional values.

Competitions like Jeng Bihu and Modern Assamese Solo Dance offered participants the chance to showcase their talents. Winners were awarded prizes, cash rewards, and certificates.

Students presented "Kamrupa Flair," a vibrant display of traditional attires from Assam's diverse ethnic communities, highlighting the region's rich fashion heritage. The "Pitha Palate" event allowed attendees to savor traditional Bihu delicacies and sweets alongside Bihu Husori (folk singing), creating an atmosphere steeped in tradition and spirituality.

Renowned Assamese vocalist Dikshu enthralled the audience with his mesmerizing performance at the festival's Musical Night.

IIITG BOHAGI 2024 was co-presented by NEDFI, in association with G-Plus, powered by EthniQ, co-powered by Shree Ganesh Enterprise, with Paul's Kitchen as the restaurant partner. Additional support came from Jagya Construction, Vanguard Security Services & Systems, and Add Constructions.
