50 addl forces to deal with situation

The Centre is mobilising 50 companies (5000 personnel) of central forces at the request of Assam. This was what Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Rijiju called it an unfortunate incident to have taken place at a time when the government has already sent a message that violence and development cannot go together.

Before accompanying Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Assam in the morning, Rijiju said north east must progress to help the peace prevail.
