Eight meritorious child scientists living in remote villages of six blocks of the district namely-Kalaigaon,Khoirabari,Bhrergaon,Udalguri, Rowta and Mazbat had experienced a unique science exposure trip to Kolkata city recently from October 26 to 30.The trip was sponsored by Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC), Guwahati and was supported by Udalguri district administration. Eight child scientists namely-Swapna Baroi, Prastuti Parashar and Riya Hazarika (Kalaigaon block); Amrit Boro (Bhergaon block), Gokul Boro (Khoirabari block), Dhritiman Gayan (Udalguri block), Biky Pathak (Rowta block), Amlanjyoti Sarma (Mazbat block) had toured various science institutions and locations in Kolkata under the guidance of district ASC coordinator Jayanta Kumar Das and block ASC coordinator Dhritishree Hazarika. The child scientists visited Science City,botanical garden beside other important places. They had an interactive session with senior Tata official Debojit Saharia at Assam House,Kolkata on October 29. It also needs mention that Sadhana Hojai,Deputy Commissioner,Udalguri had taken special interest in the programme by personally sponsoring two additional child scientists to accompany the team.She also supported child scientists' accommodation in Assam House,Kolkata.
