Cabinet reshuffle on Monday

The breaking news of the hour is the preparedness for en masse resignation of ministers to help chief minister Tarun Gogoi reshuffle his cabinet slated for Monday.

Highly placed sources told Assam Times that Gogoi is set to formally accept the resignation on Sunday when he would chair the cabinet meeting at Koinadhara in the evening. Gogoi is prepared to reshuffle his cabinet at a function likely to be held on November 30.

The chief minister is likely to drop five ministers to induct at least ten new faces in his cabinet. The new faces are likely to include Sarat Borkotoky or Anajan Dutta, Abdul Muhib Majumdar, Bidya Singh Englen, Bhupen Bora, Arun Phukan, Dr Bhumidhar Barman.

Those Gogoi wants to be axed include Akon Bora, Pradyut Bordoloi, Khorsing Ingty, Prithvi Majhi and Tanka Bahadur Roi. The chief minister’s office is believed to sought appointment with Governor JB Patnaik for the swearing in ceremony.  Chief Minister Gogoi will return to Guwahati on Friday after getting the list of new ministers approved by the party high command.
