VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

NIA visits Lungsung, Ultapani

NIA Director General Sharad Kumar landed at Bismuri ground in a helicopter to take stock of the carnage of Adivasi area at Lungsung and Ultapani under Bismuri police out post in Kokrajhar district. on Thursday.Kumar was accompanied by IGP(NIA) GP Singh reached at Bismuri at 11 AM and visited the Lungsung and Ultapani and took stock about carnage by NDFB(S) where NIA team have been investigating into carnage since last few days.Kumar also met affected families and shared grief of victimised.The NIA are taking up two cases in connection with the December 23 carnage  in Kokrajhar(case number 557/2014 and 558/2014).

Ranjan cadres join NDFB(P)

A total 15 members of NDFB-R (Ranjan Daimary), including the commander of the outfit’s eastern command Renjen Goyary alias G. Rafwd and spokesperson Martin Narzary alias N Mwnthai officially joined the NDFB-P (Progressive) at the NDFB-P designated camp at Serfanguri in Kokrajhar on Thursday.They were accorded warm welcome with traditional aronai at a home coming ceremony which was attended by the NDFB-P judicial secretary, B. UBPO condemns mud slinging

Insufficient ex-gratia amount!

The All Adivasi Students Association of Assam(AASAA) is unhappy with the ex-gratia and rehabilitation grants of the government for the family members of the recent carnage victims. The organization further demanded hike of Rs 20 lakh each to the deceased victim and Rs.5 lakh to the injured persons during carnage.Talking to Assam Times, AASAA leader Satyanath Tudu said that the association and affected peoples were not satisfied with the ex-gratia and rehabilitation grants of the government. Who help NDFB-S!

BPF Supremo Hagrama Mohilary alleged that NDFB(P) and the All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) have been helping NDFB(S) escape the Operation all out’ in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur.Addressing reporters on Sunday, the BPF boss condemned the recent carnage and urged the ABSU and NDFB(P) to stop helping hand to NDFB(S) and cooperate the government while conducting operation so that militancy activity can be root out.He said that the government should take steps to ensure security and sufficient facility for meeting problems of inmates at relief camps. He also said that government should continue sufficient relief materials so that people should not be face hardships in their living. 

Conference rescheduled

The All Bodo Artistes’ Association(ABAA) has rescheduled its 7th annual conference on February 7 and 8 next instead of January 10 and 11 citing the recent carnage in the district. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will attend the event chief guest on the open session while noted film producers Jwngdao Bodosa and Jahnu Baruah will also grace on the occasion. 

Relief distribution continues in Kokrajhar

BNC meeting in Kokrajhar

73 relief camps in Kokrajhar

There are still 73 relief camps running where 1,54,305 inmates are taking shelter and 25 police fixed pickets have been set up to the displaced places in the district, said Thaneswar Malakar, Kokrajhar DC on Friday.Malakar while speaking the reporters today at DC office conference hall said that the relief camp have decreased 73 from 81 camps in the three sub-divisions like Kokrajhar,Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora in the district. Inmates gheraoed officials

Relief camp inmates at Patgaon High School in Kokrajhar gheraoed VP Payarilal, additional chief secretary of govt of Assam and Thaneswar Malakar, Kokrajhar DC on Friday demanding security measures and suffiecient relief materials.The officials visited the camp to stock of the relief works at the school involving sector officer and relief incharge, but inmates saw uproar over government officials and gheraoed the officials for half an hour.
