Oil India announces Rs 1,200 crore investment in the state to revamp the pump stations of pipelines for carrying crude to refineries. The announcement came from OIL Chairman and Managing Director S K Srivastava on Saturday when he was addressing the shareholders during the 55th Annual General Body Meeting at the company's Fields' Headquarters in Duliajan. In his speech, Srivastava said the pumping stations of the trunk pipeline have been operating for over five decades and a revamping of these pump stations is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. Later in a statement the oil giant said it operates a 1,157 km long crude oil trunk pipeline of 5.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity for transporting crude oil produced at oilfields in Upper Assam to the public sector refineries at Numaligarh, Guwahati and Bongaigaon.
Guwahati. WWF-India Assam State Office organized an evening program at Dighali pukhuri park with a walkathon and a performance by WWF volunteers and Assam Earth Hour Influencer Arghadeep Baruah and his band, "Bottle Rockets India", who performed using solar lights and candles on March 25.
In addition to these landmarks, the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, issued a written message appealing to citizens to join in observing Earth Hour. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also participated by working with candlelight at Janata Bhavan. The Education Department of Assam supported Earth Hour by advising schools to participate in the campaign.
