Assam celebrates Independence Day

Amid tight security Assam joins the Independence Day Friday. Braving incessant rains, people in large number are coming out to the public places across the state to celebrate the red letter day.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will hoist the national tricolor in the central function at the Veterinary Playground in Khanapara at 9-30 in the morning.

After his address, the chief minister will take the salute of the march past by police, army, para military forces and NCC. Cultural shows are also lined on the occasion.

Reports of the last minute preparation for celebrating the Independence Day are pouring in from all district and sub divisional headquarters.

Apart from it, the various political parties and organizations are all prepared to celebrate the day with pomp and gaiety.
