PHE observes Diarrhoea week

The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department observed Diarrhoea week along with awareness campaign in the affected areas of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) in respect of safe drinking water and sanitation at Chitila market in Kokrajhar on Thursday.
It was organised by the PHE in co-ordination with Health and Family Welfare, BTC and supported by WSSO, Guwahati.

Assistant executive engineer (PHE) HR Das, Dr. BR Barman, senior  medical and health officer,Dotma PHC, Chitila VCDC, NBA staff and villagers were present on the occasion, besides collecting 54 water samples from the villagers for testing.

Dr Barman spoke about the causes and syndrome of Japanese Encephalitis said that proper awareness among villagers will stop further spread of the diseases. Barman also said there is need to have behavioural change to maintaining proper hygiene in the area for better health.
Das stressing the need of safe drinking water to protect from various diseases including Diarrhoea, Thypoid, Cholera has taught the villagers about the use of bleaching powder for safe drinking water.
A hand washing demonstration was also demonsrated by NBA staff to sensitizing common publics,especilaly students about the benefits of cleanliness and protection from diseases.
Leaflets and other IEC materials were also distributed during the programme.
