The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has deceived Assam and its people if Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is to be believed.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Friday, Gogoi said that the much-hyped poll promises are missing in the Union Budget tabled in Parliament on Thursday.
“ The Union Budget did not offer anything to the state”, said the Chief Minister.
He added, “BJP and Modi charged Dr Manmohan Singh of doing nothing for the state. BJP promised to give a lot to the people of Assam, but gave nothing in the budget."
Gogoi said that promises passed through the lips of Modi only before the polls. But he forgot his promises of steps to end unemployment, flood, illegal migration, rhino poaching.
“The Union Budget has thousands of crores of rupees for the Ganges. Then what wrong goes with the Brahmaputra which has been responsible for immense erosion and massive floods in the state,” asked Gogoi.
