The Centre will seriously consider the recommendations of the MP Bezbaruah panel set up to examine the concerns of the north eastern people living in other parts of the country. This was what minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju told Bezbaruah when the latter met Rijiju in New Delhi recently to submit the report. The committee strongly suggested a Monitoring Committee at the home ministry to monitor the implementation of their recommendations on time. Headed by MP Bezbaruah, the panel was set up by the home ministry after Nido Tania, a 19-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh, was beaten to death in Delhi in January.

The North East Students Society Delhi University (NESSDU) organised a one-day cleanliness drive programme recently with the theme “I Love Delhi University” rececntly where many students from North East took part in cleaning the dirty roads in and around Delhi University main campus. Lauding the cleanliness drive of the North East students in Delhi University, Delhi Police Nodal Officer for North East IGP Robin Hibu (IPS) commented, “It brought a good name for NE and many Delhites were speechless by seeing NE boys and girls cleaning the roads.” “I hope NE youth will clean more areas like Munirka, Gandhi Vihar, Mukherjee Nagar, JNU, Jamia, Janakpuri in the days to come,” he further added.
The North East Indian communities residing in Delhi will be felicitating the newly elected Members of Parliament (MP) from Northeast region in the recently held Lok Sabha Election tomorrow on June 11 at the Vishwa Yuva Kendra, Chanakyapuri.
