Brisk polling is underway in Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency where 11, 73,947 voters are expected to exercise their franchise in 1,597 booths.
Altogether 604371 voters are male while 570476 others are female who are exercising their franchise till 4 in the afternoon.
The authority have identified 67 booths as hyper sensitive while 71 are sensitive booths where pollings are underway with very tight security measures.
Voting began from 7 in the morning to end at 4 in the afternoon to decide on the fate of ten candidates in the fray.
The authorities have deployed over 3,000 officials with 1700 electronic voting machines to ensure free and fair polls.
Congress candidate BK Handique is seeking fresh mandate while BJP has fielded Kamakhya Prasad Tasa. AGP leader and former transport minister Pradeep Hazarika is contesting along with Drupod Buragohain from CPI and Manoram Gogoi from AAP.
The voting will end at 4 in the afternoon and counting would take place on May 16.
