Kokrajhar: Poisonous oil and waters released from NTPC project in Salakati, Kokrajhar damages huge areas of crops along the Salakati area in Kokrajhar district. Farmer allege that water and chemical oils are being released from NTPC project via drains into paddy fields. Affected areas include Bamunigaon, Pakriguri, Putiagaon of Kokrajhar district.

Farmers demanded strict measures against incident. Toxic efflluent alsokillingh fishes, animals in the area.

NTPC officials have rushed to the area to take stock of the situation. However, the officials denied the allegation of toxic effluent damaging the crops, fishes and animals.
