Eid-ul-Zuha celebrated with religious fervour

UDALGURI: Along with the rest of the nation  the Muslim people of various parts of Udalguri celebrated Eid-ul-Zuha -the festival of sacrifice with religious fervour and enthusiasm on Saturday , with people praying for peace, prosperity and amity.Hundreds  of Muslim men thronged Idgah maidans  in traditional attire and white caps and offered prayers on the occasion.In Tangla the people thronged Bara Masjid Idgah maidan and Banseria Idgah maidan  for special Eid prayers.Eid-ul-Zuha, also called Id-al-Adha or the "Sacrifice Feast," is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year and is considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God's command. On the occasion, members of the Muslim community also distributed gifts among economically less privileged sections. A festive atmosphere prevailed at various localities as men and children  drapped in traditional attires came out in streets.Religious sermons were also delivered on the occasion  for peace and harmony.While Maulana Mohammed Samaun Ahmed Noori led the prayers at  Bara Masjid Idgah Maidan while Maulana Rezakul Islam, led the prayers held in Banseria Eidgah Maidan .Sweets were also exchanged as both Muslims and Hindus greeted each other and feasted after the Eid prayers. Eid prayers were held with at various neighbouring places including Bamunjuli,Garuajhar,Panery,Dimakuchi and Kalaigaon.

As part of Swach Bharat Abhiyan, sanitation wing of Tangla Town Commitee today organised cleanliness drive in the town. Several areas of the town have been cleaned of garbage, horticulture waste and debris. The cleanliness drive was joined by local people suppoted by members of Akhil Hindi Bhashi Bikas Parishad, students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Hindi Medium school along with the sanitary workers of the town committee. The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. Meanwhile volunteers have been put to work to colect population and education data of the Bodo people and with the collected data a souvenir magazine would be published where data's of population; education, occupation of people number of service holder, cultivates, buisiness man would be published.
The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Speaking on the occassion he said that sole objective of the organization is to uplift the community in socio-economic, educational and cultural spheres. Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society.
