AKRSU seeks early granting of ST, Kamatapur

 

KOKRAJHAR: Intensifying the movement seeking Scheduled Tribes (ST) status to the Koch Rajbongshis, reconstruction of kamatapur">Kamatapur  state, the All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) organized a grand mass gathering at Gandhi Maidan in Bongaigaon today which witnessed a large number of agitators thronging from nook and corners of state. The mass gathering witness participant speakers and leaders from different organizations,apart from Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader, Akhil Gogoi, prominent leaders of the Koch Rajbongshis, leaders from six ethnic community ST demand group organisations among others. AKRSU leaders, agitators from Koch Rajbongshi community shouted slogans demanding early granting of  ST status to the Koch Rajbongshis, reconstruction of kamatapur">Kamatapur state within Indian constitution. AKRSU slammed the governments for not initiating any measures to solve the issue and demands of the AKRSU.The students union alleged that BJP led NDA government has miserably failed to fulfill hopes and aspirations of the community that BJP party promised before parliamentary elections in 2014. President of AKRSU, Arun Ray said that the students union organized the grand mass gathering in support of  seeking ST status, reconstruction of kamatapur">Kamatapur state. He has alleged that the BJP led government totally failed while solving the issue and demands of the Koch Rajbongshi community. He has sought immediate steps from government to meet solution of the ST status,reconstruction of kamatapur">Kamatapur state. He has demanded early solutions of granting ST status, reconstruction of kamatapur">Kamatapur state in immediate way. KMSS leader, Akhil Gogoi said that the BJP led governments have no welfare initiative for the common citizens of the state. He alleged that common citizens are deprived of due basic benefits they are entitled to.

Kokrajhar: Manipur football team defeated Assam team 5-4 via penalty kick in the final match of the 64th edition of National School Games for U-14 football(boys)  held here at JNV, Ranchaidham Basugaon in Kokrajhar on Friday amidst large gathering of sports lovers. Kokrajhar: As many as three hardcore cadres of the NDFB- Saoraigwra faction were apprehended by Kerala police in Ernakulam on Thursday morning. Kokrajhar: Mohmedan Sporting Club, Kolkata defeated Oil Sports Club, Duliajan 4-3 via penalty kick to lift the trophy in the final match of the19th edition of the Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup football championship-2018 held at KDSA stadium on Sunday evening. Both team were goalless in the full time of the championship.  The winning team was awarded cash Rs. One lakh and a trophy. Kokrajhar: The National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM), an organisation of people’s welfare  has  strongly opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016 and urged the BJP led NDA government to avoid such move to the greater interest of the country. Kokrajhar: State players of the Assam Tchokball team was accorded warm welcome and felicitated at Kokrajhar rail station on Thursday here in Kokrajhar who were participated in the 9th national sub-junior and junior girl’s championship 2018-19 recently concluded in Navi Mumbai of Maharastra. Assam team’s girls  won second prize in junior and got third prize in the sub-junior boys respectively showcasing attractive performances in the chmapionship. Eminent linguist, folklorist and scholar of Assam Dr Pramod Chandra Bhattacharya breathed his last on Monday. He was 93. Dr Bhattacharya had contributes a lot toward uplift and development of the Bodo language. He had done his Ph D on Bodo language and culture. He was a prolific writer and actively associated with literary bodies of the state.  Various organisations including All Bodo Students Union, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma have expressed condolence on the demise of Dr Pramad Bhattacharya.
Kokrajhar: The 19th edition of the Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup football trophy -2018  has began from Sunday at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar.  Minister for Social welfare department Pramila Rani Brahma graced the event as chief guest.  In the inaugural match, Guwahati City Police took on Bongaigaon Eleven Star sports club.  Altogether 13 teams across the country are  participating the football trophy.
