In a bid to sensitize young people on issues like climate change Youth Alliance for Climate (YAC) organised a popular talk on climate change at GODWINS English School at Sarusajai on 8th May for the students of the school. Students responded to the programme in very interactive form as they mentioned that the raising temperature is also part of the change in the weather which can be termed as the climate change. Topics like Green house Effect, Global warming were discussed in the programme and students spoke out how human being are responsible for the climate change. The programme was facilitated by Ranjan K Baruah, Chief convener of YAC and Balaraj Singha from GODWINS school. Ranjan K Baruah also spoke about various children’s initiatives and opportunities for the children to participate and voice their concern against climate change. He was referring about the United Nations Environment Programme and also about COP 15 which will be held at Copenhagen later this year. he appealed the students to take part in global initiatives and raise their voice for combating climate change. GODWINS School will be organizing world environment Day on June 5th in association with YAC with the theme “Unite to Combat Climate Change” at their school premises. More than 40 students and teachers participated in the programme.

SMILE Film Festival organised by Indo Global Social Service Society has began in the town yesterday. ‘Soldiers in Sarong’, a documentary by Lokendra Arombam was shown in the festival. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ritupon Gogoi, state Coordinator of IGSSS and Arirban Choudhury , director of Darwin School of Business.
