Guwahati escapes major blast as IEDs recovered

Police claimed to have foiled a major blast in Guwahati when they recovered two powerful bombs from Lakhra Chari ali in the city on Saturday morning. Both the bombs were kept in a deserted land of the area.


According to information, police recovered two powerful bombs at Forest Gate near Lokhra on Saturday morning. The bombs were kept in a heap of garbage and both the bombs weighed 10 kg and 3 kg respectively.


Later the bombs were diffused by bomb diffusal squad at a safe location. Police picked up one Babul Das for interrogation in this connection.


In yet another development, local residents said they filed an FIR before the Basistha police on April 6, 2009 just they came to see a group of miscreants was planting something on the spot. But no action was taken by the police.
