Death anniversary of Muslim Ali Saikia

2nd death anniversary of journalist Muslim Ali Saikia was observed by Kamalpur Press Club on February 14 last at Kamalpur Mini Stadium at Kamalpur in Kamrup district. On the ocassion the flag of the press club was hoisted by Pradip Kumar Bharali, Senior journalist. Tribute to Journalist Muslim Ali Saikia was paid by family members of the deceased journalist. A seminar titled " Role of rural Journalist in social change in present situation" was also organised on the ocassion under the presidentship of senior journalist Pradip Kumar Bharali. Addressing the seminar noted Journalist and Secretary of the Guwahati Press Club Nava Thakuria remarked that jouranlists should try to bring positive change in the society as a whole. He also asked journalists to ensure balance reporting. The seminar was inaugurated by Samindra Nath Deka, Principal of Kamalpur H.S. School. Naresh Sharma, noted social worker also addressed the seminar.

Two persons including a woman were killed in a train mishap took place on Monday 6:15 pm at railway lines of Tuhura village under Kamalpur Police Station. Kamrup District Journalists Association has strongly condemns the killing of Kokrajhar based journalist Jagjit Saikia by miscreants. Paresh Baishya, President and Prakash Deka, Secretary of the Association have demanded, in a press release, appropriate and prompt action against the miscreants.
A bomb was recovered at Rangia market in the early hours today during a joint operation launched by Rangia Police and Red Horns Division Engineers Regiment. Acting on specific information security personnel recovered the bomb kept inside a hume pipe inside the market. The bomb is Improvised Explosive Device ane weight is approximately 8 kgs. No person has been arrested till now though the investigation is on. Senior police and civil administration officials have visited the spot.
Kamalpur: Two persons were killed in an accident took place at dawn today at National Highway 31 at Madanpur under Kamalpur polic station in Kamrup district. A motorcycle bearing No.AS-01AH-2167 coming from Guwahati towards Rangia collided with truck No. AS-18 A-1469 at Madanpur. Both the riders namely Swarup Dutta (31) and Ashok kr. Biswas (27) were killed on the spot. Swarup was a resident of Dhirenpara (Guwahat) and Ashok was a resident of Rangia.
