A brimful cup of misery awaits the tea garden labourers working at the Dumor Dalong Tea Estate where lock out has entered eight day on Monday. The deadlock came up following the clash among a section of Congress workers for panchayat poll ticket.
A big clash for a small matter which has forced the lock out of the Doomar Dalong Tea Estate in Moran under Dibrugarh district. Initially, it’s all about the Congress ticket for the panchayat polls which divided labourers into two groups. The people of both groups clashed with each other. The entire scenario took a grim turn when the tea garden authority had a secret deal with one of the labourers where parts of their salaries were forcibly deducted in the name of fencing in the nearby cultivable plots. When the garden management’s deal with a section of ATTSA officials came to light there were demands to pay these money back. They further demanded suspension of those involved in the secret deal. The irate employees vandalized the office and beat up a few managerial staff 25th of January. Caught in this clash, the authority locked out the tea estate on 28th of January. But the labourers here rue that the role of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha president Pawan Singh Ghatowar, labour commissioner and the district administration are not encouraging. They say all these troubles can only benefit the Assam Company ltd which owns the tea garden.

A NDFB-S rebel identified as Buddhiram Basumatary alias Birkw of Amteka Debrabil in Chirang district was apprehanded from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar by security forces belonging to the Army on Sunday morning.
