Majarbhuyan expelled

Stunned by the absence of Ataur Rahman Majarbhuyan in the Rajya Sabha polls, AIUDF has suspended its legislator who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia.

The decision was taken after the party legislators met at the Assam Assembly complex on Friday.

According to information, the party leadership has decided legal action against the legislator for ignoring the party whip in the Rajya Sabha.

Despite assurance, Majarbhuyan has failed to cast his vote on Friday citing his visit to Saudi Arabia.

5 killed in Palashbai accident

At least five persons were killed when a the vehicle carrying them collided head on in a dumper Palashbari area in the outskirt of Guwahati on Friday.The shocking accident took place in the afternoon at Bhagawatipara where a women died on the spot. Body recovered inside train

An unidentified body of a girl was found from a compartment of the Awadh-Assam Express at Guwahati Railway station on Friday.The body was found after the train arrived in Guwahati from Lalgarh in Rajasthan to be spotted by the cleaners inside a plastic drum near the bathroom of S-7 coach. Railway authorities have ordered an enquiry and efforts are on to identify the passengers, who had boarded the coach and left the bag.

HSLC exam begins; results on May 15

The High School Leaving Certificate and High Madrassa Examinations get underway along with the higher secondary examinations across the state on Monday.Amid tight security arrangement SEBA holds HSLC examinations for 3,84,702 candidates at 823 centres.  The Assma Higher Secondary Education Council conducts the Higher Secondary examination in the Arts, Science, Commerce and vocational streams at 768 centres with 2,36,971 candidates. SEBA will announce the HSLC results on May 15.

Ensure Assam safety: Gogoi to Centre

4 killed in Tezpur mishap

Food poisoning takes grim turn

Over 500 people have been undergoing critical treatment at different hospitals in Guwahati after consuming food served as Prasad on Friday’s Saraswati Puja in Dimoria area of Kamrup. This has forced the Kamrup metro district administration to order an inquiry into the incident.GMCH alone has 140 children from three schools in Durung, Koraiguri who were rushed to it following complaints of stomach pain and vomiting. Food poisoning back with ailments

Over 50 people have fallen ill in Kamrup district of Assam after consuming Prasad on Friday. The patients, mostly, students and their guardians in the outskirt of Guwahati city have been rushed to the hospital as they complained of stomach ailment after consuming Prasad at a Saraswati puja function in Sonapur.
