Scribe in serious condition, press club appeals for financial assistance

Guwahati Press Club expresses its gratitude to all the individuals and organizations who have so far contributed to facilitate the medical treatment of journalist Safar Ahmed, who is associated with Sakalbela, a Bengali daily published from Guwahati by Saradha group.

Although, the health condition of the ailing journalist has shown slight improvement, he continues to be critical. His stomach is partially damaged and swelling of brain was reported by the attending doctors, which included New Delhi-based physician Dr SC Sharma of Gangaram Hospitals, who visited Safar today.

Safar Ahmed’s medical treatment will require more funds and we hereby request sensitive donors to hand over the financial aid directly to his family members at the Dispur Polyclinic and Nursing Home, Ganeshguri, Guwahati. Donors can also deposit cheque or cash in the account number of Kutub Ali, who is a close-relative of Safar Ahmed. His bank account number is 467502011020106 (Union Bank of India, Nagaon branch, Barpeta). Kutub Ali can be contacted at 097076 94847. Safar’s maternal uncle Feddus Ali (M- 097062 36424) may also be contacted for any kind of enquiries.
