Barring Ataur Rahman Majarbhuyan, all legislators have exercised their franchise for the three seats in the Rajya Sabha polls a few hours before the closing time.

According to information, two Congress candidates along with the BPF candidate are likely to win. The ruling Congress managed smooth sailing of two candidates with their own strength while the BPF candidate is set to win with the votes from Congress, BPF, independent candidates.
The Opposition candidate Haidor Hussain received the first setback when the AIUDF candidate failed to arrive in time. Secondly, AGP MLA Padma Hazarika’s vote is likely to be cancelled for technical reason.
Thirdly, Hussian lost support from independent candidate Jatin Mali, TMC candidate Dwipen Pathak and expelled BPF candidate Hitesh Basumatary.
The counting is set to take place at 5 in the evening and the results would be formally available after the seal of approval from the Election Commission.
