Tribute to Rupkonwar

The Assam Don Bosco University organized a cultural tribute to Rupknowar in collaboration with the Music and Singing club, Rangayan club and Nrityangana club, 5th February.

The Programme started with the lighting of the lamp by Vice Chancellor Fr. (Dr) Stephen Mavely in the presence of Pro Vice Chancellor Fr. Josph Nellanatt, Principal of the School of Technology Dr. Manoranjan Kalita, Heads of Departments and faculty members and the students.

Professor Papul Changmai in the opening speech highlighted about Rupknowar’s life and also spoke about the genius. A group dance by the students received a big round of applause while a song by student Dhrubajyoti Baishya mesmerized the audience.

Tributes poured for Rupknowar with various items like instrumental numbers and group song both from the faculty and students. The evergreen ‘Biswa Bijoy Nowjawan’ as a chorus presented by both the faculty and student members stole the limelight of the show.

The programme concluded with the concluding speech and a very melodious number by the college principal Dr. Manoranjan Kalita.

‘It is a very good initiative taken by the teachers and students of the cultural clubs. I am very happy to be a part of such a beautiful programme, ’said Vice Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University Dr. Stephen Mavely. Fr. Mavely also said that “culture is an indispensable part of a person’s life and along with education a person should be familiar with the culture and cultural bigwigs of his/her country.”

Principal Dr. Kalita informed that from now on ADBU and Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology will organize cultural tributes to all the cultural greats of India and will surely try to develop the cultural awareness among the students.
