Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi wants to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Kaliabor constituency instead of the sitting MP Deep Gogoi in the upcoming general election.
Samir Gogoi is a ticket aspirant to be fielded in Jorhat instead of the sitting MP and former Union minister Bijoy Krishna Handique. Gogoi is the son of Assam Assembly Speaker Pranab Gogoi.
Application for Lok Sabha poll tickets are pouring in the Rajiv Bhawan from Friday where Manikumar Subba has applied for ticket from Tezpur. His younger brother Sanjoyraj Subba filed the papers on behalf of the former MP. Congress leader Balin Kuli also has applied for ticket from the constituency.
Congress MLA Wazed Ali Chaudhury seeks ticket from Karimganj while Bolin Bordoloi wants to contest from Guwahati. More leaders are expected to file their applications for poll tickets at the Rajiv Bhawan on Saturday.
These would be screened by a panel to be referred to the AICC screening panel before high command’s nod.
