Dissidence again!

Dissidence against Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi refuses to die down if the ongoing affairs within the Congress legislature party is anything indication.

A section of party legislators is preparing to leave for New Delhi to air their discontent against the CLP leader. During their trip slated for January 17,they seek an appointment with party president Sonia Gandhi to reveal the growing rebellion against the chief minister saying that it would have an adverse impact on the Lok Sabha polls.

Some senior legislators want the council of ministers to be reshuffled to accommodate the young aspirants. Sources close to the anti-Gogoi camp told assamtimes that they would try to convince the party leadership of the urgent need to change the chief minister and his council of ministers.

Health and family welfare minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who is believed have been taking the lead told reporters on Saturday that he would quit the office after the general polls to pave the way for other aspirants. Senior leader Sarat Borkotoky also is believed to have backed the move.

Notably, the simmering dissidence led by Dr Sarma was believed to have subsided after the CLP meeting where the legislators pledged to mend the differences to help the party put up a brave fight in the Lok Sabha polls.
