The Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) Christian Students Forum held Advance Christmas celebrations before the start of the semester end examinations, last Sunday. Over 250 students and faculty joined the festive spirit at the University’s tastefully decorated Azara Campus atrium, 17 November.
“Christmas is a festival of joy and giving. It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the portent of peace and harmony in the world,” said one of the students, Sylvester Kamei adjusting the statues in the Christmas crib on stage.
The celebration started at around 5:30 pm with Caroling by the assembly and blessing of the Manger by the ADBU Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr (Fr.) Joseph Nellanatt.
It was followed by merry songs and dances by various student groups leaded by Savio Marbaniang and Miss Ibapalei.
Everyone also involved themselves in various party games including poem or rhyme composition for the secret Christmas friend volunteered by Br. Andu and Hazel Wahlang.
In a brief Christmas message, the ADBU Campus Minister and Director of Distance Education Dr (Fr.) Francis Fernandez spoke about the importance of the festival.
The much awaited arrival of Santa Claus added to the cheer and joy of all. He enthused everyone with tricks and toffeess.
The exchange of gifts for all present and cutting of two Christmas cakes by faculty members followed.
The program came to an end with the singing of Carols and the agape dinner. END
