In association with the Civil administration and District Journalist association, the Freelance Journalist Association of Nazira colourfully observed the 47th National Press Day at its office on last Saturday. On this occation a drawing competition was also organised among the high school students. A seminar on the topic of "Role of Media in surving public interest " was held where senior journalist of the state Prakash Mahanta, Rajdeep Bailung Baruah, secretary of the Sivasagar District Xahitya Xobha Jibaon Kalita, SDO (C) of Nazira Mousumi Baruah, Chairman of Nazira Municipalty Abdur Rohman, Public relation of Nazira Sub division Dipu Deka took part in the seminar. On the occation Dr. Ishwar Prashad Baruah, Dr. Bipul Hatikakoti, Dr. Hemanta Gogoi, Syed Md. Mansoor, Md. Abdur Rohman, Niran Gogoi and Anuj Rajkhowa were felicitated.

A two-days-long 15th annual conference of the Sivasagar district All Assam Students Union (AASU) was held at Maut Gaon, Simaluguri on on January 4-5. The new executive committee was formed in this conferance with Samiron Phukon became the general secretary and Ashim Dutta as the new president. Members of Nazira Anchalik AASU Unit walked out from the repeesentatives meetings due to the internal disputes.
