Sainik School alumni prepares for Golden Jubilee

Sainik School Goalpara (SSG), one of the premier institutes of the regionis going to celebrate its Golden Jubilee with a yearlong programme commencing from  Nov 12, 2013 to Nov 12, 2014. Sainik School Goalpara was established on Nov 12, 1964. It is a residential school for boys, providing Public School Education with an aim to prepare them to join defence Services. Initially the school started its operation from a temporary campus at Goalpara town and later on, in the year 1976, school got shifted to its permanent campus in Mornoi, around 18 kms away from Goalpara town. With a huge sprawling green campus of more than 3000 acres, it boasts of having state of the art infrastructure, both in terms of Academics facilities as well as physical training facilities. Highly qualified teaching fraternity, excellent atmosphere and round the clock activities, the school have really proved itself.  SSG has excelled in its primary role as a feeder institution to the Armed Forces and has over 200 ex-Sainik School Goalpara students (SSGians) to its credit as officers in the Armed Forces. A good number of ex-students have also excelled in various other fields like Central Govt, State Governments, Corporate sectors as well as entrepreneurs. In-fact, almost all its ex-students do extremely fare in whatever field they are in besides being highly socially conscious citizens.

Old Boys Association of Sainik School Goalpara (OBA SSG) would celebrate the golden jubilee of SSG with a year-long programme. The aim of this celebration is not only to rejoice on the past achievements of this great institution but also to bring awareness among masses of Assam that such a great institution is available for their bright wards.

The salient features of the yearlong Golden Jubilee programme include  national level debate competition , blood donation camp, alumni meet, publication of souvenir, Sainik School Goalpara Golden Jubilee Run, national level invitational quiz competition, national seminar on prospects of Sainik School Goalpara, cultural show, etc. OBA SSG organised a press meet at Guwahati Press Club on 11th November and announced its activities related to forthcoming Golden Jubilee Celebration. Press meet was addressed by Diganta Gogoi , General Secretary of OBA SSG , Air Marshal ( Retd) Anjan Gogoi, Brigadier ( Retd) Ranjit Barthakur, Wing Commander ( Retd) Manoj Bora , all of them are past student of SSG .

OBASSG isthe apex body of the ex-students of Sainik School Goalpara and is registered as a society under the Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860 with its head office at Guwahati. The primary & immediate objective of the body is to work towards the well-being of its alma matter, i.e. Sainik School, Goalpara, its members and their families. At the same time, OBASGG is engaged in large number of broader social activities. Voluntary blood donation camp, health and welfare camps for needy, public awareness campaigns on key social issues, organizing training and development programmes, conducting different competitions for youths etc. are to name a few. OBA SSG has appealed all its members and ex student of the school to take part in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the school.

Goalpara Sainik School Old Boys Association (OBA) organised its 9th Blood Donation Camp at Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute on August 15. Organisers told Assam Times that as a part of the Sainik School Goalpara Golden Jubilee Celebration year, OBA has donated 46 units of blood by its members and families.
