Review meeting on election held at Haflong

In order to ensure smooth and proper management to the forthcoming North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Elections 2013, the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Shri. Barun Bhuyan held a review meeting with all the Zonal Magistrates and Sector Officers in the District Library Auditorium, Haflong on Saturday. The Polling Officials attended the meeting with a full report in respect of their respective polling stations. Earlier on the total number of nominations received till the last date against the 28 constituencies is 162.The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on the 29th of April. According to the latest figure the total number of voters in the Autonomous district is 121178. The District will go to poll on the 20th of May.

 

Meanwhile, in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 4 of the Assam Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951, as amended, the Governor of Assam was hereby pleased to raise the Maximum limit of election expenses (including the personnel expenditure) of each candidate contesting election to North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council from Rs. 60,000/- (Rupees Sixty thousand) as fixed underRulel76ofthesaidRules,to Rs.2,00,000/-( Rupees Two lakhs) only.
