The 1st Annual Flower Show cum Exhibition-2013 will be commence from January 22, 2013 with a 28 days programme in the project area of Hi-tech Flower Cultivation in the Departmental Farm of the Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing(DHFP), Assam at Juripar, Panjabari, Six-mile, Guwahati. The event will be jointly organized by DHFP, Assam and Assam Horticultural Society (AHS). Besides Flower Show, Flower Competition for different categories will be organized in the event. Flower Tubs of Marigold/ Dahlia/ Chrysanthemum/ Bougainvillea; All types of Foliage; Single/Mixed Cut Flower; Orchid; Cactus; Succulent and other flowers like Anthurium, Lilium, Gerbera are the categories of the Flower Competition. The DHFP, Assam will also provide stalls to floriculture nurseries at free of cost for display and selling of their floriculture items in the event. The interested participants may contact with MMD Bharali, Convener, Exhibition Committee , Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam; Khanapara, Guwahati – 22.

Seed Village Programme in the state

In an effort to supply quality seeds to the farmers, the Assam State Seed Certification Agency (ASSCA) mooted a Seed Village Programme across 19 districts. Boost for farming fraternity

The Union Cabinet has approved the Interest Subvention Scheme (ISS) for farmers for the year 2017-18 to help farmers get short term crop loan up to Rs. 3 lakh payable within one year at only 4% per annum. The Government has earmarked a sum of Rs. 20,339 crore for this purpose. The interest subvention will be given to Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Private Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) on use of own funds and to NABARD for refinance to RRBs and Cooperative Banks. New huge cropping hopes

Crijaf Sona, a microbial formulation powder used for retting jute fibres, was launched in Guwahati on Monday. The microbial formulation, developed by the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres (CRIJAF), under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, is expected to increase the income of farmers.
