ABSU’s demand in connection with TET

In connection to the 50% cut off mark for the secondary Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) examination to be held on February, 2013 tentatively, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) is not against the TET examination but it has made some of the points and demands from the concerned department.

First, the cut off mark of 50% for TET which is made compulsory for all should be reviewed as per earlier rules of the State Government considering the socio-economic issues and unemployment problem.

Secondly, Government should consider all the B. Ed. qualified candidates eligible for TET as per the rules prevailed time to time.

Thirdly, Government should reconsider the provision of 5% relaxation from the total percentage of marks required for TET to the candidates belonging to ST/SC/OBC.

Fourthly, Government should make liberal provision for PG candidates.

Fifthly, Government should make qualified such candidates for TET who had got admission and qualified B.Ed. with the total percentage of Master’s Degree.

Sixthly, it should be more justifiable in its strict sense that if the government make such percentage of mark as cut off mark for TET which the Universities of Assam had adopted eligible for admission into B.Ed. courses as per the rules prevailed time to time i.e. 40% for ST/SC/OBC and 45% for Non-ST/SC/OBC till 2009 and 45% and 50% for ST/SC/OBC and for Non-ST/SC/OBC respectively from 2010 onwards be made minimum cut off mark for TET as B.Ed. Degree is made a mandatory prerequisite eligibility qualification for Secondary School teachers up to 2015.

This was stated in a press statement issued by Jiron Basumatary, General Secretary of ABSU and Romeo P Narzary , Education Secretary of ABSU .
