Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday expressed grave concern over the simmering communal tension in BTAD areas and called it is a major cause of worry for the entire country. Speaking to mediapersons on board to New Delhi from Tehran, he said that what worried him more was the ethnic clashes in Assam.
“When I look at the future of our country, the way things have gone in Assam, the ethnic tensions that have disturbed peace in Assam, that part of Assam which is in Bodoland territorial administration”, he said.

We know through newspapers and social workers that the riots in Assam are directed against Bangladeshi migrants who have illegally infiltrated and settled in Assam.But Dr. Singh who is country's Prime Minister calls these communal riots.It appears the PM is not aware of what is happening in this country country.God save this country with such an ignorant Prime Minister!

Altogether 5 persons died at a tragic road mishap in Sonitpur on Saturday. The mishap took place in the wee hour near Gophur where Indigo vehicle carrying them to Guwahati slipped into the deep gorge at Borongabari. All the five persons died on the spot. Four of them hailed from Guwahati and two of them were identified as Arpan Kalita and Chandan Medhi.

Disclosing this, education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the exams for the next session will start on February 19 next year and continue to March 5. Four persons died in miscreant attack in Kokrajhar on Friday. The gruesome incident took place at Jaipur at around 9-15 in the evening. The severed bodies were recovered by police.The deceased identified as Nipu Gayari, Jonsar Bodo, Thoba Gayari and Pradeep Boro. Immediately after the incident the miscreants managed to vanish amid darkness. Security forces are fanning in and around the area to nab the culprits.

At least 30 passengers had a narrow escape when in a country-made boat carrying them capsized in Aie river of Chirang district on Friday. The incident took place at around 2.30 in the afternoon at Ranisundari ghat when the boat was on its way from the west to the eastern bank of the river, which is a major tributary of the Manas river. According to police, all the passengers swam safely to the shore.
