he AKRSU-sponsored hunger strike for a separate Kamatapur has crossed seventy five hours but nobody from the Tarun Gogoi cabinet has come to them. Going by the Sunday news, some doctors were rushed to the protesters. They alleged that on Monday the government tried to end the strike through negotiation with the Kamrup metro administration and NCP leaders.
However, AGP and AUDF presidents along with some other parties and organiosations have rushed to the protest site and expressed thier soliderity.
The doctors attended the protesters again on Monday morning.
But till now no representative from the ruling party is there to take stock of the situation. On the other hand, lower Assam commissioner VSL Vasaba, Kamrup metro deputy commissioner Pratik Hajela and headquerter sub divisional officer Chandra Kamal Bhuyan came to the site.
On the other hand, several political leaderts rushed to the protesters from Monday morning to visit the striking Koch Rajvbanshi student leaders. They include former AGP ministers Rekha Rani Das Boro, Biraj Kumar Sarma. During Moreover, Tankeswar Rabha from the All Assam Rabha Students Union, MASS adviser, AJYCP adviser Dilip Patgiri also visited the protesters. The AARSU president said that the Rabhas will not object to the ST status fore the Korch Rajbanshis in the Rabha Hasong council areas.
Asom Gana Parishad president Brindaban Goswami along with Sabda Rabha, Queen Ujha, Apurba Bhattacharjee rushed to the striking AKARSU leaders.
AUDF president Badariddin Ajmal, his associate Basir Ahmed Kasimi and former minister Aminul Islam also visited the protesters and supported the cause.
They alleged gross injustice for the minorities by the Congress. AKARSU president Biswajit Rai has alleged that the government is shying away from steps to solve the problem and and instead has a conspiracy to end the strike through negotiation with NCP and districgt administration.

The Koch Rajvanshis have the legal right to demand a separate state according 2 the bond of '49, between Ind govt. & the King of Kamatapur. "Kamatapur will be constructed as a "C" catagorised state"- it was in the conditions of the bond. State administration is not showing any honour 2 the honourable High court also. Thats why AKRSU have taken the highest attempt for their legal and appropriate demand.

Three peope have been injured while a powerful blast rocked a vegetable market in Nalbari. The explosion took place at 6in the evening. The injure peopes have been rushed to the hospital. The Union home ministry has sent a slew of instructions for the north eastern states to deal with any situation during the Republic Day celebrations in the region. With less than 24 hours left for the Republic Day, security has been beefed up across the state to ensure peace and normalcy during the day. Despite drizzling in January Coldwave, around seventy five per cent voters exercised their franchise in the fourth and final phase of panchayat polling in Darrang district on Thursday. NABARD has planned to invest a total Rs 2224.63 crore for 2008-2009 in Assam. Addressing a seminar held on Thursday at the Assam Administrative Staff College, the banks’s chief general manager C K Gopalakrishna said of this amount, the potential assessed for agriculture is Rs 886.38 crore , Rs 441.05 crore for industries while Rs 897.19 crore is being kept for services. He said in view of the thrust on agriculture and food processing industries, a credit potential of Rs 35.23 crore has been estimated for the year. The Black Widow has killed one Amri Rupsi in Haflong on Thursday morning alleging him to be a police informer. Amid tight security, Assam is going to the fourth and final phase of the panchayat elections in Darrang district from in the morning on Thursday. The polling is going on at 728 voting centers in the district. As many as 4,50,000 voters are voting for 3659 candidates. The voting will end at 4.00 pm. Around 70 per cent of the voters had exercised their franchise in the first phase of the polls on December 31, while around 72 per cent cast their votes in the second phase on January 4. An estimated 74 per cent of the electorate had exercised their franchise in the third phase of polling on January 9.
