Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi says on Wednesday that his government will continue the initiatives to help the state develope on all fronts. Unfurling the national tri colour at Khanapara in the morning, Gogoi said that the development initiatives are paying dividends.
Gogoi said that the violence-hit people in the refugee camps would be taken care of. Gogoi, who unfurled the tricolour for 12th times took salute of the armed forces and NCC.

KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi on Friday demands President’s Rule in Assam to bail out the state from the worsening law and order situation. Three suspected NDFB cadres were gunned down during an encounter with security forces in Goalpara district on Friday. According to police, the encounter took place during an operation in Salpara around in the wee hours. In the retaliatory firing, three cadres were killed, while the rest two managed to escape. A woman died of electrocution when she was trying to charge her mobile phone in Kamrup (Rural) district on Friday. The incident took place in the morning in Pitambar Hat Bajali village, when the woman jolted as she put the mobile charger to the switch and fell unconscious in her house of the district. Identifiedas Lalita Kumar, she was rushed to the Rangiya Civil Hospital hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The acrimony over the molestation incident in Guwahati seems to have spread to New Delhi when hundreds students staged dharna in front of the Assam House on Friday. The outrage against the incident continued as members of the civil society staged a protest before the Assam Bhavan in the national. The protestors met the Resident Commissioner of Assam in New Delhi and urged him to ask Dispur to take strict action against the incident.
